INDUSTRY VISIT TITLE: “Wistron Infocomm (Philippines)”
I. DETAILS OF THE EVENT/ACTIVITY
Our industry visit took place on May 5, 2025, at Wistron Infocomm (Philippines) located at 4 Rizal Highway Corner Aim High Avenue, Subic Bay Industrial Park Phase 1, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City. Wistron is a big electronics manufacturing company that started in Taipei, Taiwan in 2001. It used to be part of Acer Inc. before becoming its own company. They design and make many kinds of tech products like laptops, smartphones, servers, and more.
During the visit, we learned that Wistron also provides services like design, manufacturing, after-sales support, and recycling. They work on different tech items such as Notebook PCs, desktop systems, professional displays, VoIP, servers, storage systems, handheld devices, and more.
We were guided by Ms. Christine Ireneo Manamtam, who welcomed us warmly and explained the company’s operations in a way that we could understand. She also gave us a tour of the workplace and shared helpful information about Wistron’s work culture and values.
II. REFLECTIONS ON THE SEMINAR/ACTIVITY GIVE RISE TO (LEARNINGS)
Through this visit, we learned how a global tech company like Wistron works behind the
scenes. We saw how organized and clean their workplace is. We understood how important
each process is—from designing to building the actual product and even supporting
customers after buying it.
Ms. Christine also shared with us Wistron’s core values:
- Innovation – always improving and finding new ideas
- Integrity – doing the right thing at all times
- Sustainability – taking care of the environment and using resources wisely
- Customer Focus – putting customers' needs first
III. REFLECTIONS ON POSSIBILITIES ON IMPLEMENTING SOME OF THE SEMINAR INPUT ON A PRACTICAL LEVEL (PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF LEARNINGS)
From the visit, we saw the importance of teamwork, discipline, and following standard procedures. These are things we can apply in school projects and in our future jobs. We were also inspired to improve our skills in technology and learn more about electronics and computers. Knowing about their process also helped us understand what kind of skills companies like Wistron are looking for in future employees.
IV. POSITIVE FEEDBACKS
The visit was a great experience. Ms. Christine was very friendly and clear in her explanations. The tour was organized, and we learned a lot about real work in a tech company. We also saw how workers stayed focused and followed safety and cleanliness rules. It was also inspiring to see a big company that started small and grew through hard work and values. Other staff members were also very helpful in sharing their knowledge with us, which made the visit more meaningful and informative.
V. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE/CONSIDER FOR FUTURE ACTIVITIES
It would be better if we had more time to visit other buildings inside the company to see more of their operations. Also, having more time for a Q&A session would help us ask more questions and learn more from the staff.
